Weight Management, Eating Disorders, Mindful/intuitive eating, and Medical Nutrition Therapy
A Registered Dietitian (RD) and State Certified Dietitian/Nutritionist (CDN), Megan Capitelli holds a Master of Science Degree in Clinical Nutrition from College of Saint Elizabeth and a Bachelor of Science degree in Dietetics from Montclair State University. She specializes in weight management, eating disorders, mindful/intuitive eating, and medical nutrition therapy, through her work in counseling individuals, couples, families and groups.
Megan is a focused and results-oriented leader that is driven to continuously educate herself on current nutrition-related news, trends, and claims. She is a self-love and positive body image activist who rejects the ‘diet mentality’. A believer that with moderation, ALL foods can fit into a healthy diet! She practices a holistic approach when counseling – primarily utilizing principles from both intuitive and mindful eating-based philosophies.
Megan, therapeutically, aims to establish a fundamental awareness of food and the eating process and re-build healthy food mindsets and relationships. She aspires to eliminate the fear, guilt, and shame that is commonly associated with food. Megan truly values the science of nutrition and is mindful that nourishment is SO much more than the food one chooses to eat. She defines nourishment as the nutrients in the food, the taste, the aroma, the ambiance of the room, the conversation at the table, the love and inspiration in the cooking, and the joy of the entire eating experience.
Megan is an active member of the American Dietetic Association, New Jersey State Dietetic Association, New York State Dietetic Association, Nutrition Entrepreneurs Dietetics Practice Group, Weight Management Dietetics Practice Group, and Diabetes Education Dietetics Practice Group.
She is a bubbly, goldendoodle loving, avid half marathon runner on a mission to holistically enlighten the world, one person at a time, using evidence-based knowledge to showcase the simplistic but invaluable therapeutic power of food’s mediocre principles to promote health and reduce and cure chronic disease. Megan is a believer that one person can make a difference.
