Reshape Balloon System
Do I qualify?
If you are an adult with a body mass index (BMI) between 30 and 40, you may qualify for the ReShape balloon. Our weight loss surgeon, Dr. Michael Nusbaum will be happy to meet with you to discuss this option. Good candidates are people who have tried to lose weight with diet and exercise alone, but have not found success. In trials, patients who had the ReShape balloon lost about 3 times as much weight as patients who tried diet and exercise alone.
The procedure
The ReShape balloon is placed endoscopically. This means that while you are sedated, Dr. Nusbaum will put a thin tube down your throat and into your stomach. The deflated dual balloon will be put in your stomach with this tube, and then filled with a saline solution. After 6 months, when it is time to remove the balloon, you’ll be sedated again and the balloon will be deflated and removed with the same thin tube. Both the placement and the removal generally take less than half an hour, and you’ll go home the same day.
The balloon program
When you choose to lose weight with ReShape in New Jersey, the cost of your procedure not only covers the balloon, but it also covers an entire year of weight loss support. You’ll receive a wireless Fitbit scale and FitBit activity tracker, as well as access to the ReShape patient portal that allows you to track your progress in detail. Your scale and activity tracker will automatically sync to the patient portal for easy tracking. Our coaches will met with you throughout the year-long program to make sure you have the best chance of success
